BPYplacement - SciFi Texture Generator inside Blender

BPYplacement is a full Blender port of the popular (and now unavailable) tool JSplacement. Since the original tool is no longer maintained and the creator has left the scene, I’ve recreated its core functionality directly inside Blender baased on the original JavaScript code — no need to switch between programs anymore.

BPYplacement is compatible with Blender 4.3+. It may also work with earlier versions, but these have not been tested.


Features

  • Generate Sci-Fi Greeble Textures directly inside Blender
    Choose from multiple generation methods, each with its own customizable parameters.
  • Built-in Image Update System
    Quickly refine and update your textures inside Blender without needing to re-import.
  • Normal Map Generation
    Create normal maps with a single click. (Note: Currently optimized for Windows — performance on macOS/Linux may be slower due to lack of native compilation support.)
  • Multiple Resolution Options
    Export at 512×512, 1024×1024, 2048×2048, or 4096×4096 based on your needs.

How It Works

  1. Open either the Image Editor or Shader Editor in Blender.
  2. In the N-Panel, look for the BPYplacement tab.
  3. Start generating textures instantly! All generated images are automatically packed into your .blend file — but for best results, I recommend saving them externally as well.

When generating textures in the Shader Editor, an image node is automatically added to your node tree for faster workflow integration.
